How to Make Foaming Hand Sanitizer
I love my Hand Sanitizer recipe that I recently re-shared here, but I wanted to tweak it a little bit and turn it into an amazing Foaming Hand Sanitizer!
This recipe is so super easy, full of clean ingredients, and the perfect way to moisturize and sanitize your hands.
My favorite part of this recipe is that it doesn’t leave your hands sticky or feeling weird. After using it my hands feel clean and soft.
And if you love making your own things like this, you should really check out my DIY Stain Remover recipe HERE too.
Why should I make my own hand sanitizer?
There are many reasons that you should take a few minutes to make your own hand sanitizer instead of buying it at the store. Here are 6 reasons:
- Most store-bought hand sanitizers contain ingredients that are linked to fertility issues, are carcinogens, are known to disrupt hormones and are allergens. You can read more about this HERE.
- You can control the ingredients yourself.
- You can customize the smell.
- It leaves your hands soft and clean feeling, not sticky or yucky.
- Cleans your hands well when soap and water aren’t available.
- Because within 26 seconds of contact, whatever you put on your body can be found in measurable amounts IN your cells! So it’s best to choose GOOD things to put on your skin.
Can you make your own hand sanitizer?
Yes, you definitely can! You just need a few ingredients like Aloe Vera, Witch Hazel, and Essential Oils and in a few minutes, you can make your own hand sanitizer! Alternatively, you can use rubbing alcohol instead of witch hazel as I do HERE.
How do you make alcohol hand sanitizer foam?
While this recipe doesn’t contain alcohol (I use witch hazel instead) this trick will work for either hand sanitizer recipe! The key to making your homemade hand sanitizer foam is to simply put it in a foaming container like this one HERE. Simply add your witch hazel or rubbing alcohol, aloe vera, and essential oils to your container and your foaming hand sanitizer is complete!
How do you make alcohol free hand sanitizer?
This recipe is free from alcohol and is super easy to make! You simply combine Aloe Vera, Alcohol-Free Witch Hazel and Essential Oils for the best great smelling hand sanitizer that exists! You will use the following ingredients for your foaming hand sanitizer:
- 3 Tablespoons Aloe Vera
- 1 Tablespoon Alcohol-Free Unscented Witch Hazel
- 15 drops Young Living Thieves Essential Oil
- 5 drops Young Living Lemon Essential Oil
How do you use hand sanitizer?
- First, you want to be sure that your hands aren’t covered in actual dirt etc. Wipe your hands off the best you can.
- Squeeze a small amount onto your hands, about dime-size.
- Rub your hands together ensuring to get both sides of your hands and in between your fingers.
Can I use hand sanitizer before eating?
Soap and water are always best, but when you don’t have that available, hand sanitizer CAN be a good alternative IF it isn’t filled with yucky ingredients that aren’t safe for you. This natural, homemade hand sanitizer is a much safer option to use before eating then something you can buy at the store.
PRO TIP: And, if you DO have access to soap and water, but the soap is traditional pink or blue soap that’s filled with harsh-chemicals…you can use a squirt of this foaming hand sanitizer and wash away with soap!
