I’m so happy to be here for my second contributing post at Simply Designing! Last month, I shared with you my wallpaper-topped table. This month I have a wine cork bulletin board.
A few months back, I found several containers filled with wine corks at my local Goodwill store.
I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with them at the time, but I knew inspiration would strike me at some point. When I was at Michael’s the other day, they had these gold frames on their clearance rack … and that is when it struck.
My teenage daughter tends to forget to tell me anytime I get a phone call — which has lead me missing hair appointments, dentist appointments, PTA meetings, etc. So I decided a bulletin board, right beside the phone, was the solution. I took my frame and spayed it with an ivory spray paint. I then sprayed about a third of the corks the same ivory, I used an aqua color for another third, and the final third I left as-is.
I laid them between two boards on the garage floor so they wouldn’t roll around when I sprayed them.
While they were drying I asked my hubby to cut-out a piece of 1/4″ plywood to fit inside the frame, and then he attached it to the frame for the back. Then I started-in on hot gluing the corks in place.
Lastly, I took these little jewels and hot glued them onto the top of some thumb tacks for a little bling, and then added a copper colored bow.
With a bulletin board like this, there will be no excuse for me to ever miss a message!
