All of my long time followers know that over the last year we worked to makeover our kitchen.  I love the transformation that it has been taking and while I still have a few more ideas in mind of projects I want to complete in this room, one of the big things on my list was that I wanted a pendant light over my island.  After several unsuccessful attempts, I finally decided to make my own!  I have been eyeing some beautiful industrial light fixtures and so I figured that with a little bit of pipe and a lot of creativity I could come up with a fun and completely unique DIY industrial pipe light fixture.  I ended up with something that fit my kitchen space and my style perfectly and I am so excited to share this with you today!  (Oh and I am hosting a giveaway at the bottom of the post so be sure to scroll down and enter to win!)
This post is sponsored by The Home Depot.
I will admit that I am super crazy in love with this DIY Industrial Pipe Light Fixture and I gladly show it off to anyone who knocks on my front door.
And while it looks like it could be complicated, it is actually really easy!  Like so super easy!  I walk you through each and every single step over at The Home Depot Apron Blog. Really!  Hop on over and check it out HERE.
I have created several projects before using pipe, but for this project, I used LDR Pipe and loved it! Â LDR not only sells nice black pipe, but they also sell Pipe Decor Kits! Â So if you are new to using pipe, one of their kits might be a perfect way to start! Â Their kits come with everything you need to create your own home decor item and they are all so fun.
While I was at The Home Depot picking up supplies for my industrial pipe light fixture, I picked up one of LDR’s Pipe Decor Kits for a Paper Towel Holder!
I put this together, by myself, in about 5 minutes! Â No tools needed. Â I just followed the instructions the kit came with and it went together quickly and easily.
And doesn’t it look awesome!? Â I just love it!
You can also check out more posts about my kitchen HERE.Â
And as promised, I am really excited to be able to share a giveaway for one of my lucky readers today! Your kitchen looks so light and bright, and that encourages me, because I have dark cabinets too. I’ve been trying to figure out how to make my kitchen look brighter, and this gives me some ideas! Oh, I like your gorgeous light fixture too! 🙂

What was the sequence you used to put the Pendant light together? Did you start at the top of the pendant or at one end or the other? I’m having some trouble getting the pipes to line up so the finished pendant looks like yours. Is there any other pipe fitting or connector you used not on your supply list? Help!
Ashley Phipps says
Hi there Marge! So I laid out all my pipe pieces so it looked like it would eventually look once it was completed. Then I put my light wiring through the pipes from the bottom up. I screwed the pipe pieces together as I went. There are a few times where it was definitely helpful to have a second set of hands helping out! But all the pieces are included in the list. It may just take a bit of time and a second set of hands. Good luck!

I LOVE the pendant light fixture! What is the width and height of the light fixture? Also, would this work on a slanted ceiling? I have vaulted ceiling and want to put this fixture over my kitchen table. Thank you!
Ashley Phipps says
Hi there, I am not sure that it would work on a slanted ceiling since the pipe is at a 90 degree angle to the ceiling. Because it does not hang by a chain, I don’t know how you would get it to install and hang straight down. I am so sorry about that. The overall size of the light is about 30″ high by 38″ wide.
Jen says
Love this! Can I ask what the total cost was or a range? Trying to consider if it’s even financially feasible.
Ivory says
Fabulous industrial lighting. You did a wonderful job in creating the light fixture.
Christina says
I absolutely love this project so much! I tried it though and cannot get the last joint to fit. It’s like it needs to be screwed in already to fit. Have you ever experienced this? What can I do?
Ashley Phipps says
Hi Christina!
It is a bit tricky. I screwed it all together from the bottom to the top. However near the end, it was helpful to have an extra set of hands so we could twist the whole light fixture if needed to get everything screwed together properly. Best of luck!
Kimber Janney says
Great looking light fixture, but I can not find the link to this one on the LDR- Pipe-Decor site. Do you have a direct link
Ashley Phipps says
There is no link to this light fixture, I designed it myself using LDR pipe. If you click through on the link that says “The Home Depot Apron Blog” you will find the full tutorial on how to make it! Thanks!
Kimber Janney says
Thank You; that is very helpful.
I would like to use this sort of fixture on a current project but I wonder if the electrical inspector will approve;
They like fixtures to be certified.
Have you run into any problems with that?
Ashley Phipps says
If you click through to the instructions, you will see that the electrical part of the light fixture and the light itself with glass globe is a pendant light that I purchased from The Home Depot. I supposed it would probably depend on the type of use you are using a light fixture like this in, but you would need to talk to your local inspector to gain verification on the building codes and rules for your city, state and construction type.
