The other day I made delicious and easy Peach Dumplings.  They were amazing!  And they were based off of my knock-your-socks-off apple dumpling recipe.  And so today I decided to brush off my apple dumpling recipe and so I created these delicious and amazing Caramel Apple Dumpling Recipe.  These dumplings are so incredibly easy to make and they are really delicious.  Especially served with a side of vanilla ice cream and whipped cream.  Yum.

Easy Caramel Apple Dumpling Recipe - this is such an easy recipe and makes amazing dumplings

I love this time of year because I really love delicious apples!  And we love to go apple picking together as a family!  These dumplings are perfect to make with fresh, orchard picked apples, or grocery store ones!  And they are really delicious all year long!  Even though something about them says "fall" to me.  Since apples are widely available all year long, they really can be enjoyed any time.

Plus, these are much easier to make them apple pie.  So much easier.  In fact my husband's favorite dessert is apple pie, but I actually hate making apple pie because it takes way too long to make.  But these, my husband loves these!  And they only take a fraction of the time to make.  So we both love them.

    Easy Caramel Apple Dumplings

    Easy Caramel Apple Dumpling Recipe

    Yield: 16 dumplings

    Ingredients:

    • 4 Apples (I typically use granny smith apples for these to add a tart taste.  They also don't get too mushy when they are cooked like most red apples do, so the texture is better.  However, I recently learned that yellow delicious apples also don't get mushy when cooked so I plan to try those in this recipe soon too!)
    • 1 cup Water
    • 1 cup Granulated Sugar (divided)
    • ½ cup Butter
    • ¼ teaspoon Vanilla Extract
    • 4 teaspoons
    • 1 can of Pillsbury Grands Flakey Biscuits, 8 count
    • Caramel Sauce (either store bought or you can use my Caramel Sauce recipe HERE)

    Directions:

    1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
    2. Peel the apples.
    3. Cut the apples in quarters and remove the seeds and stem.
    4. Separate each biscuit into 2 layers so that you have 16 biscuits total.
    5. Wrap a biscuit layer around each apple slice, overlapping and sealing at the bottom.
    6. Place all 16 wrapped dumplings into a greased 9" x 13" pan.
    7. In a small-medium sized saucepan, bring water, ¾ cup sugar, butter and vanilla to a boil over medium heat.
    8. Pour hot sugar mixture over dumplings.  (It will look really soupy and runny.)
    9. Mix remaining ¼ cup sugar with cinnamon and sprinkle this mixture on top of the dumplings.
    10. Bake for approximately 25-35 minutes until the biscuits are cooked and golden brown.
    11. Serve with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream or however you prefer and of course, a big drizzle of caramel sauce!

These are truly delicious.  My family loved them and I am definitely making these again and again this fall season!

This looks so delicious. I remember my mom trying the Grand Biscuits as a deep fried donut. She just poked her finger in the middle of the biscuit for the donut hole, shaped it into a donut and fried them. Then she sprinkled it with glaze or powdered sugar. I wish she would have known your recipe and added the apple. Plus some caramel sauce. It is one of the nice recipes for a quick and easy dessert for unexpected guests who drop in. They might think I spent hours in the kitchen. Thank you for sharing your recipe (and reminding me of wonderful memories).

These dumplings look really delicious and elegant enough for a company dessert! Fantastic that it is easy too. No one would guess these are made with canned biscuits! 🙂

The recipe says 4 teaspoons but doesn’t say what ingredient. Is that the cinnamon?
