Back in the day (and by that I mean about 6 years ago) I spent my days as a commercial interior designer. I thought, dreamed and breathed commercial interior design! I loved it! (and I still do)
I get many questions because of my blog about Interior Design and Decorating and have been so inspired by many questions I have gotten that I wanted to write a multi-part series about the Life as an Interior Designer!
I am not sure how long this series will be or how long it will take me to write, but because I have a design blog and an interior design business, I thought it would be a fun on-going series!
I hope you’ll follow along as my story unfolds 🙂 I think it’s pretty interesting, but I am biased…
So first up…
The big debate! This is an industry hot button for sure! (I almost cringe just writing about this…)
And while I don’t want to offend anyone…I would like to give you a general definition of designers and decorators (as typically accepted by the industry) so that you understand the difference a bit more.
Both designers and decorators typically have an “eye” for good design. They both love design, decorating and creating amazing spaces! Both decorators and designers are important and each play a vital roll in the design community.
Whew! What a list!
So the moral of the story is that both designers and decorators play an important part in our industry and while they play similar roles, they are not quite the same. So if you are looking to hire a designer or decorator, be sure you hire the person that fits your needs best!
Now…are you wondering…which am I? A designer or a decorator…
(to be continued…)
